Former Whitnall Wrestler on UW-Whitewater Squad
Elroy Perkin, II, a junior music major from Greenfield and former Whitnall High School standout, has been named to the 2012-13 wrestling team at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Last year, the Warhawks won the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament for the first time in 20 years. Wrestlers finished the season eighth in the nation, and as a result will be competing in regionals this year.
"The expectations are higher than ever," said Tim Fader, head coach of the UW-Whitewater wrestling team. "With new members and the schedule given to us, we have the opportunity to develop as the season progresses and truly enhance our chances of going further this year."
When the wrestlers are not under the spotlights, they are giving back to the community. They helped build the new Children's Center on campus and volunteered for the Salvation Army in Janesville over Thanksgiving.
