Adoption Resources of Wisconsin has created a video and website for its Journey Home(TM) bus tour, Colleen M. Ellingson, CEO, announced today. This is a three-hour tour that demonstrates the many aspects of the public child welfare system and what happens to a child entering that system because he or she is not safe in their home.
"This is a very powerful tool to help business leaders, government and elected officials understand what it really means to be a child entering the foster care system," Ellingson said. "We've conducted four such tours across Wisconsin and helped other implement their own tours, so we felt it was important to share the 'how-to' information with others."
The microsite, www.journeyhomebustour.org, includes a 13-minute video of one of the tours as well as a manual describing how to carry out a tour and a link to order samples ofa ll the documents necessary to create and execute a tour. The video and website were created with the support of Jockey Being Family(R), the corporate citizenship program of Jockey International, Kenosha, Wisconsin.
