Best Buy Employee Accused of Theft
Police say a store associate took a tablet while working at the store.
A 32-year-old Best Buy employee is accused of stealing items from the store while claiming they were taken by others.
Maggie May Sabljak of Greenfield was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court on Saturday with one count of theft. If convicted, she faces up to nine months in prison and $10,000 in fines.
According to the criminal complaint:
On Dec. 19, Greenfield police officers were called to the store after a security guard suspected Sabljak of stealing. During her shifts she would bring empty merchandise boxes to security and claim the items were stolen, however, after monitoring Sabljak’s workstation, a guard discovered she had taken a tablet, then placed the item's empty box back behind other similar products.
After taking the tablet and leaving for the day, the guard tried to stop Sabljak who refused to stay, saying the guard couldn’t keep her there.
Greenfield police officers contacted Sabjak’s parents and she then agreed to come into the police department where she admitted to stealing the tablet from the store.
She will make her initial appearance in court Thursday.
