Budget Cinema to Remain Open for Immediate Future

The city's Common Council would have to give final approval of the lease extension at a meeting June 19.

The razing could happen before the July 2014 lease expires if the theater or developer gives 120 days notice and terminates the lease.

The Greenfield Highlands project, part of a 47-acre tax incremental financing district along Highway 100, was originally approved in 2006 and was slated to include retail locations, single-family homes and condominiums, according to Greenfield NOW.

The theater was to make way for new development β€” and eventually it likely will β€” but as the economy slowed, Budget Cinemas, a second-run theater, has remained open. Last year, the , operated by Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin .
