Cracked Cadillac Windshield Lands Man in Hot Water
A Greenfield police officer busted Thomas Owen Miller for felony OWI after he allegedly drove down Layton Avenue with the wrong license plates and a cracked windshield.
A 48-year-old Franklin man is facing felony drunk driving charges after he was allegedly caught driving drunk through Greenfield on Sunday.
Thomas Owen Miller was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court on Tuesday with one count of fifth offense operating while intoxicated. If convicted, he faces up to six years in prison and $10,000 in fines.
According to the criminal complaint:
At 1:45 a.m. Sunday, a Greenfield police officer spotted Miller driving eastbound in the 5300 block of West Layton Avenue in a Cadillac with a cracked windshield and wrong license plate on it. The car was deviating from its lane and the officer then pulled it over.
Miller told the officer he has an open warrant against him. The officer noticed Miller smelled of alcohol, and Miller admitted to drinking a few beers.
Miller failed field sobriety tests and had a blood alcohol level of 0.24, or three times above the legal limit to drive in Wisconsin.
Miller was previously convicted of OWI in 1991, 1997 and 2002. He was charged with his fourth offense in July and the case is still pending in court.
Miller was assigned $2,500 bail while awaiting trial.
