Dale Schrank, who has successfully coached the Greenfield-Greendale boys co-op swim team the last several years, has been named the high school's head varsity girls coach.

Schrank, who has a storied career as a high school and club coach, has led the boys co-op to four WIAA sectional championships and three Woodland Conference titles and coached nine all-American swims.

In just the past four years alone, Schrank’s teams have rewritten every existing boys swimming record in the school's 53-year-history.

"I am very excited to return to my alma mater, and I hope to put Hawk swimming back on the map for the Greenfield High School girls swim team," Schrank said.

Among his many accomplishments, Schrank, a 1971 graduate of Greenfield High School, was himself a valuable contributing varsity swimmer to the school's conference and sectional championship teams between 1968 and 1971.

Schrank went on to play water polo for the University of Wisconsin-Madison and was one of only three swimmers to start every game of the season. Schrank then founded the highly successful Southwest Aquatic Team (SWAT) and started a swim lesson program — Swim America — that has grown to more than 1,800 registrations annually.

“We’re excited to have Dale as our head girls coach,” athletic director and assistant principal Scott Otto said. “He’s done a great job with our boys program and a fantastic job the past four years as head girls coach for Wauwatosa West. We are very fortunate to have him as part of our athletic program.”
