A Franklin man allegedly tried to one-up the hungry, red-caped burger-lover of the 1970s and 80s.
According to the Greenfield Police Department report, the 36-year-old Franklin man was cited for theft after he left Red Robin, 7575 W. Edgerton Ave. with a meal worth $10.07 without paying for it Sep. 1.
The restaurant’s manager told police the customer placed a phone order at 10:52 a.m. and got his food at 11:13 a.m. He was upset that it took so long for his food and felt he didn’t have to pay for it. What’s more, he requested a $20 gift card for the inconvenience.
The manager told the man he would call the police if the he tried to leave without paying for the food, which is exactly what happened.
A few days later, police spoke to the man on the phone and the man admitted to leaving with the food without paying and asking for the gift card, though he told police the manager gave him consent to leave with the free meal.
