With New Year's Day less than a week away, property owners have to turn their attention toward paying their taxes to the City of Greenfield.

There are several different ways to pay your taxes including heading to City Hall between 8 and 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Note that City Hall will be closed on Monday, Dec. 31, but the treasurer's office will be open from 9 a.m. to noon.

Checks and tax bills can also be mailed to City of Greenfield, P.O. Box 20739, Greenfield, WI 53220-0739. Envelopes postmarked on or before Dec. 31 will be receipted for 2012.

Payments can also be left at the City Hall "deposit box" located at the south entrance of the building. Payments in the box before midnight the night of Dec. 31, will be receipted for 2012.

Payments can also be made at the Tri-City Bank located in Pick 'n Save, 4279 S. 76th St., Dec. 26-31, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. or BMO Harris Bank (formerly M&I) at the corner of 76th Street and Layton Avenue.

BMO Harris Bank is open: Dec. 27-28, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Dec. 29, 9 a.m. to noon and Dec. 31, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Missing bills?

According to city employees, some residents reported last week they had not received their bills, despite all bills being mailed Dec. 10.

The area most impacted is east of 43rd Street, mostly in the area of 34th through 36th Streets, between Edgerton and Barnard Avenues.

The bills may have been stolen. Residents who have not yet received their bills are being encouraged to call their post office to report missing mail.

Constituents can call the Finance Department at 414-329-5259 to have a replacement mailed or to have a replacement available to pick up at the counter at City Hall.
