Greenfield Farmers Market Coming This Summer

Residents are encouraged to participate in a community interest survey.

Greenfield officials are beginning to organize a community farmers market that would begin in summer 2013 to take advantage of the full growing season.

Details of dates, times and location are still being determined.

“We strongly believe that a farmers market will be a vibrant addition to the city,” Mayor Michael Neitzke said. “A market providing access to fresh, healthy and locally grown produce will be a great benefit to our residents and will contribute to making Greenfield a better place.”

In an effort to create a farmers market that serves the needs of the Greenfield community, a planning committee has developed a consumer feedback survey. The survey aims to assess the level of community interest and to assist in determining the specifics and logistics of the market.

The committee urges Greenfield residents to provide their feedback, and interested persons can also volunteer to join the planning efforts.

The online survey may be accessed here. Responses will be collected through Friday, March 8.

Hopefully it will just be fruits and vegetables. Not like the one in West Allis with all the other stuff that's always so crowded.

In the spring, West Allis has all sorts of flowers and hanging baskets which is nice too. As for crowded, the vendors bring alot of produce, and without people to buy it, they wouldn't come. The more the merrier.

I would think we'd want a variety of products. More vendors mean more people. Crowded is good...it won't last long if it isn't crowded. You can get all sorts of interesting things at the West Allis one.
