K9 Badger Honored on Final Day With Police Department
After 7 1/2 years with the Greenfield Police Department, the successful canine called it a career Tuesday and was honored by the city.
The Greenfield Police Department was at the center of attention at Tuesday's Common Council meeting at City Hall.
With dozens of officers and command staff in attendance, the department and city officials recognized Michael Schlossmann, Bruce Larsen and Steven Claflin of Schlossmann’s Subaru City for their donation of a 2012 Subaru STI to the department, and Dr. Marla Lichtenberger of MECA Vest-a-K9 Foundation and Stan and Mike Kass of Skylark Vending, who split the cost of a $14,000 donation for a new police canine.
But the star of the show was Badger, the department's police canine, who was recognized along with Sergeant Scott Zienkiewicz, his handler, for their 7 1/2 years of service together.

Happy Retirement Badger! Now you can finally enjoy treats. Yes, everyone should have a dog. A life without a dog is not a life lived to the fullest!
