Lazich Fires Back at Judges Decision

A Dane County judge struck down the controversial budget repair bill today.

A Dane County judge that eliminated most collective bargaining for most public employees.

But supporters of the law have questioned her decision, including State Senator Mary Lazich who represents Greenfield.

"If Judge Sumi wants to create law, or write law or change law, she should become a legislator," Lazich said in statement. "She should not legislate from the bench." Β

Lazich says was surprised to learn that Sumi made the decision today, as she was under the impression that it was already with the Supreme Court awaiting a decision.

Greenfield State Rep. Jeff Stone could not be reached for comment. A staff member at his office said Stone wad not been fully informed of the reasons Sumi struck down the law.
