Longtime Parks Department Employee to be Honored
Sharon Meier and a host of others will be recognized at the department's annual banquet.
Recently retired administrative assistant Sharon Meier headlines a list of 2011 award recipients to be honored at the Greenfield Department of Parks and Recreation annual hall of fame and staff recognition banquet.
The banquet is Friday, Feb. 17, at the Community Center, 7215 W. Cold Spring Rd.
Meier retired in October after 18 years with the department and is this year's hall of fame inductee. Meier will not be in attendance but will join the awards ceremony via Skype from Alaska, where she and her husband now reside.
In addition, Vickie Strachota has been named employee of the year and John Kubeny is the 2011 park employee of the year.
Other award recipients are:
- Korbin Biersack: youth sports coach of the year
- Peter Eidsmor, Liz Hamm, Stephanie Ewert and Kara Stuiber: instructors of the year
- Jon Grubor: official of the year
- Jessica Thompson and Audrey Hoese: volunteers of the year
Also, the Greenfield Division of Public Works, Don Roehl, Cilla Baker and Don Almquist will receive special service awards.
For the first time in its 21-year history, the banquet will be held at the city's Community Center, which opened in July.
