Men Try to Walk Out of Walmart With $5,000 in Goods, Police Say

Two Milwaukee men were tracked down by police in the Root River Parkway and arrested, while two others got away.

Two Milwaukee men were tracked down by police in the Root River Parkway and arrested after they and two others attempted to steal nearly $5,000 in merchandise from Walmart on Saturday.

According to the Greenfield Police Department report, three men each filled a cart with electronics and other miscellaneous items while at Walmart, 10600 W. Layton Ave., just after midnight Saturday.

After being spotted by an employee, each man pushed his cart out of the emergency fire doors on the south side of the building. As the employee chased them, he noticed a tan van was sitting just outside the doors waiting for the men. One of the men jumped into the van, which sped off eastbound on Layton Avenue. Those two suspects have not yet been apprehended.

The other two men ran across Layton toward the First Weber building. They were spotted in the marsh area south of Layton by a police officer, who found one of the men, Ge Vang, 24, lying down in the marsh hidden in the brush.

A second suspect, Lucky Yang, 21, was taken into custody not far from that spot with the assistance of the Waukesha County Sheriff Department’s K-9 unit.

Back at the store, the employee was unsure if the men got away with any merchandise, but the items the men abandoned when they scattered totaled $4,854.

During an interview with police, Yang told an officer he did not know the three men he was with and was at Walmart to steal a computer protein powder supplements and an exercise ball.

Yang and Vang, who had three open warrants with the St. Croix and Clark County sheriff’s offices, were arrested for retail theft and resisting an officer. They were each charged with one count of felony retail theft in Milwaukee County Circuit Court on Monday.

Wonder if Lucky Yang was lucky enough to have not have the K9 tear any flesh off of backside.

For some reason that Wal Mart attracts some undesirable people.Just because they built a new store doesn't mean you'll get a better group of shoppers .
