Nestle Recalls Products After Discovering Horse Meat
The company is suspending all deliveries from products that contain beef from a German supplier after finding horse DNA.
Nestle is suspending delivery of all its products that contain beef from a German supplier after traces of horse DNA were found in the meat.
Tests found traces of horse DNA in two products made from beef supplied by H.J. Schypke.
"The levels found are above the one percent threshold the UK's Food Safety Agency uses to indicate likely adulteration or gross negligence," a statement on the company's website said.
The company reports that there is no food safety issue.
Nestle is also recalling two chilled pasta products, Buitoni Beef Ravioli and Beef Tortellini from sale in Italy and Spain, along with a lasagna product sold to a French catering businesses.
Unauthorized horse meat has also been discovered in products labeled as beef and sold in countries that include Britain, France, Sweden, Switzerland, Germany and Ireland, reported CNN.
