Police continue to look for an armed robbery suspect who held up Jen’s Beverage, 4312 W. Howard Ave., Jan. 1.

A 65-year-old store employee was stabbed in the left abdomen during the incident, according to the Greenfield Police Department report.

The stabbing victim told police at around 8 p.m. Jan. 1, he overheard the suspect, who was wearing a mask and held a knife, demand money from the cashier.

The stabbing victim approached the suspect with a throwing knife he himself had been carrying. The suspect turned to leave and stabbed the victim in the side, though the injury was minor.

The cashier told police the suspect entered the store and demanded money, and that at first, he thought the suspect was joking because the suspect was talking so calmly. He then saw the suspect’s knife and turned to the cash register to retrieve money for the suspect.

When the stabbing victim approached the suspect, the suspect grabbed at the money in the cashier’s hand, but it was unclear how much, if any, the suspect left with.

The suspect was described as a white or light-skinned man, who was wearing a brown or tan coat, similar to a Carhartt jacket. He had a purple or blue hooded sweatshirt under the jacket and wore blue jeans and light colored shoes.

The suspect is also believed to have stolen a iPhone 4s from a vehicle at nearby Speedway around the same time as the attempted armed robbery.

Another smart ass heard from. This is a serious crime no matter what weapon was used. Knock it off.

Maybe I should put it a better way, Lee. If we don't bring into question the hypocrisies in our society, then we might as well submit to the fact that our society is nothing but hypocrites. I don't know about you, but I believe hypocrites, especially those motivated by fear, have no place in our society.
