Police Find a Pound of Marijuana in a Greenfield Home

Man tells police he sold the drug to family members so he could make ends meet.

A Greenfield man is facing charges after police found more than a pound of marijuana in his home.

George Manuel Santiago, 41, was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court on Thursday with one count of possession of more than 1,000 grams of THC, the active ingredient in marijuana. If convicted, he could face up to six years in prison and $10,000 in fines.

On Jan. 10, executed a search warrant on Santiago’s home in the 6800 block of West Allerton Avenue where they found about one pound of marijuana in a bag in the kitchen and smaller baggies of the drug throughout the house. They also found paraphernalia used for smoking the drug and a handgun.

Santiago told police he bought about 1 1/2 pounds of marijuana four months ago and had been selling it to family members in order to make ends meet.

He’s scheduled to make his initial appearance in court Tuesday.
