Police Hope to Send Message With St. Patrick's Day Roll Call

Law enforcement agencies from throughout the area are increasing the number of officers on the streets this weekend to crack down on drunken driving.

 

In a show of force on St. Patrick's Day weekend, area police departments are beefing up patrols and will descend on the Greendale police station Saturday afternoon for a roll call.

Police officers from Greenfield, Hales Corners, Greendale and Franklin will be in front of the station at 3 p.m. to send a message not to drink and drive.

Law enforcement agencies are increasing the number of officers on the street this weekend, with overtime pay coming through several grants through the U.S. Bureau of Transportation and Safety. Results of the metro-wide deployment will be reported Monday.

The following agencies are involved:

Northwest Quadrant:

  • Wauwatosa PD
  • Brookfield PD
  • Town of Brookfield PD
  • West Allis PD
  • State Patrol
  • Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department
  • Menomonee Falls PD

Roll Call at 3 p.m. in front of Mo’s Irish Pub: 10900 block of Bluemound Rd.

Southeast Quadrant:

  • St. Francis PD
  • South Milwaukee PD
  • Cudahy PD 

Roll Call at 2 p.m. at 10th Street and Milwaukee Avenue

Central Quadrant:

  • Milwaukee PD
  • Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department
  • State Patrol

Roll Call at 8 p.m. in front of Mo’s Irish Pub-Downtown, 142 W. Wisconsin Ave.

Northeast Quadrant:

  • Bayside PD
  • Fox Point PD

Roll Call at 8 p.m. in front of Mo’s Irish Pub-Downtown, 142 W. Wisconsin Ave.

I think this is an effective way to decrease the potential of tragedy due to drunken driving on Saint Patrick's Day. Many people need to be reminded of the danger as this holiday approaches.
