Representatives Ready to Get to Work

Jeff Stone, Michael Kuglitsch and Daniel Riemer were sworn in for the 101st State Legislative session Monday.

Job growth and the economy will likely remain the focus of state lawmakers again in 2013.

On Monday, Greenfield’s three state representatives – Jeff Stone (R-Greendale), Michael Kuglitsch (R-New Berlin) and Daniel Riemer (D-Milwaukee) – were sworn in to begin the 101st Legislative session in Madison.

Stone has been the 82nd Assembly District representative since 1998.

“I look forward to working with my colleagues in the Assembly, along with Governor (Scott) Walker to help create an economic friendly environment that will help continue to grow jobs and move Wisconsin forward,” Stone said in a statement.

Kuglitsch was sworn in for a second term as the representative in the 84th Assembly District.

“I will do my best to work towards an agenda that will keep Wisconsin on the path of fiscal stability and growth,” Kuglitsch said in a statement. “I believe we made great strides last session, but there is still work that needs to be done.”

Riemer, who beat out longtime representative Peggy Krusick in a Democratic primary in the newly drawn 7th Assembly District, has been appointed to the International Trade and Commerce, Transportation and Ways and Means committees.

“I am excited to begin working on the issues that are important to Wisconsin families on these committees,” Riemer said in a statement late last month. “The people of our state want us to focus on what is important for Wisconsin: good, family supporting jobs, protecting access to affordable health care, safe roads and a strong infrastructure, and tax fairness for seniors, middle-class homeowners, and working families.

“I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to further these goals.”

Stone was recently appointed to the chairman of the Small Business Development Committee, and vice chair of the Committee on Health. He will also serve on the Legislative Council, Ways and Means, Transportation and Jobs, The Economy and Mining committees.

Kuglitsch will be chair of the State Affairs Committee, and vice chairman of International Trade and Commerce Committee. Kuglitsch was also appointed to the committees on Jobs and Economy, Workforce Development, and Labor.

“Putting Wisconsinites back to work cannot be placed on the back burner, and we must face our issues head on," Kuglitsch said. "I look forward to working on a plethora of issues that will assist Wisconsin, such as a mining bill, tax reform legislation, and training legislation that will bridge Wisconsin’s skills gap.”
