Teen Charged With Stealing Safe From Greenfield Home
The suspect told police he stole the safe after the victim's son told him it was full of cash during a party.
A 17-year-old Milwaukee man is facing charges after he allegedly stole a safe out of a Greenfield home while attending a party there.
Damian J. Krause was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court on Saturday with one count of burglary. If convicted, he faces up to 12 ½ years in prison and $25,000 in fines.
According to the criminal complaint:
On April 27, Krause was at a home in the 3000 block of West Cold Spring Road where the victim’s son held a party and told Krause there was $5,000 in cash in the safe. After the party dispersed, the group went to McDonald’s, but Krause was dropped off, then walked back to the house and took the safe.
The victim called police the next day when he spotted the safe missing, saying it contained $1,200, jewelry, a camera, checkbooks and important documents. Krause admitted to the theft, saying he was able to crack the safe open later.
Krause has been turned over to the JUSTICE 2000 program while awaiting trial.
