The Newtown Shootings: Patch, Wisconsin to Take Part in Moment of Silence
Patch sites across the country will take part in a "Web Moment of Silence: on Friday, and Gov. Scott Walker is asking Wisconsinites pause to remember those lost last week.
Gov. Scott Walker is calling for a statewide moment of silence to be observed at 9:30 a.m. Friday to remember the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings in Connecticut.
In addition, the more than 900 Patch sites around the country — including 16 in Wisconsin — will go dark at 8:30 a.m. Friday as part of a "Web Moment of Silence."
Walker and governors around the country are calling for a Day of Mourning on Friday in order to honor the 20 children and six adults who were killed Dec. 14.
“Newtown and the State of Connecticut are still reeling from the terrible loss of life last Friday,” Walker said in a statement. “(Connecticut) Governor (Daniel) Malloy has called for a Day of Mourning in Connecticut and asks that states across the nation also remember the victims and their families in a moment of silence.
"This is also a moment to honor the bravery of Sandy Hook Elementary staff and the first responders," Walker added. "During difficult times such as these, it is important that we stand together to support our neighbors, who are suffering.”
In addition to the moment of silence, Walker is asking places of worship and government buildings that can do so to ring their bells 26 times in honor of each of those who died in the mass shooting.
Among other websites taking part in the "Web Moment of Silence" are AOL, Adobe, Foursquare, Hacker News, Duke University Jawbone, Salesforce and others.

@Marie - that's a very sweet thing to do ... and it allows you to talk with your kids at the same time about anything that might be on their mind.

Except there were 27 victims. No one seems to count the kid's mom that he killed at home before he went to the school.

4000 unborn human beings are killed every day in the US, please remember them as well. They die as violently as the children of Newton.

This is about the Newton victims - not an opportunity for Pro-Life Preaching.
There is a time and a place - as well as other blogs.
This is neither.

I do not discriminate between children being slaughtered, killed at the hands of a maniac with a gun or by the sterile surroundings of an abortuary, the death is the same. Pray for the victims of Beslan, Newtown, and the 30 million slaughtered because of Roe V Wade.

One:
Abortion is legal. It is not murder
Two:
Are you counting the assassinations of doctors by maniacs in your number to pray for?
Finally:
For the purposes of this tribute, please start to discriminate.

Killing black slaves was legal at one time in our history, killing Jewish people was legal in Germany, is that the side you want to be with? All killing is bad, please look in your soul.

So you are also praying for all the inmates killed on death row?
You are in favor of the legal questioning of all women/couples of a miscarriage? Did they kill, too? Are they responsible?
I suggest we take this discussion over to another blog - Newton Shootings or such. Holocaust Germany or The Slaving South don't have anything to do with the tradegy of Newton CT

Sarah, there is a big difference b/w 4000 unwanted unborn, abortions and 20 live and loved children. What about our criminal military daily killing children in the middle east? Your silence and support of the troops allows the killing to continue. What about the Sudan and the Congo? What about pedophile human trafficking for the rich and famous? Me Thinks the politicians, state, federal and local et al and Washington's powerful financially elite who just beat the American Public and assured on-going extremely profitable drug trafficking and Banker Rights to rip us off, with the "TOO BIG TO FAIL” court decision and other decisions such as the Patriot Act are running scared from their constitutients and accountability and want to take our guns away. They are using every mass shooting incident to their design and not addressing the primary causes and common factors in the psychological profiles of the shooters. What do you think the common factor is among the shooters? So far all white males. Shall we ban them?

Yes Christine. IS our government acting like the mafia and intimidating the witness's? LOOKS that way to me. I would look directly at the Walker/BUSH family. Bush choose the head of the FBI the controlling agency that appears to be perverting data and the investigations. Obama could replace him but hasn't. FBI directly under the control of Eric Holder US ATTORNEY GENERAL, Obama's pick. Personally, having experience with kids like Adam, I can't believe he had it together enough to pull this magnitude of a shooting off without someone he trusted holding his hand. The suicide doesn't fit either. Where are the statements from the surviving adults? Someone else had to have been in the building. Newtown is not OC. Hopefully the victims families will ask better questions and demand answers unlike the "moral" sheeple majority here.
