As the month of November quickly approaches, so does Whitnall Falcon and Milwaukee Bucks basketball. After a five-month offseason for the pros and eight months for the Falcons, players are finally returning to the court preparing for the upcoming season.

Junior Michael Gruszka is a huge NBA fan and loves attending Whitnall games as well.

“It’s been too long of an offseason,” he said.

The NBA season tipped off Tuesday night with three games, one of which was the Boston Celtics visiting the defending champion Miami Heat.

The hometown Milwaukee Bucks, however, will have to wait till Friday to begin their season against those same Boston Celtics.

After a disappointing season last year, the Bucks went out and made some key acquisitions, perhaps the biggest being trading for Haitian center Samuel Dalembert. With these changes, both Bucks players and fans are expecting a playoff season.

“Teams better fear the deer,” said junior Matthew Pook, who has been a Bucks fan his whole life and is very excited about the upcoming season.

Not only is the NBA season starting, but so is the high school season. The Whitnall Falcons are looking to repeat as Woodland conference champs under a new coach and many new players.

Fans like Bryan Domitrz are really looking forward to this year.

“It’s definitely one of the most exciting sports in high school,” he said.

Fans have very high expectations for the upcoming basketball season, and it shouldn't disappoint.
