Months of planning has come down to just a couple of days away before we step-off for the "Bestest" 4th of July Parade and Celebration for Greenfield. I'd be remiss if I didn't take some time from setting up in the hot sun at Konkel Park to recognize my hard - working VOLUNTEER Committee: Bridget Condon, Community Bank and Trust; Gina Daroszewski, Classic Lanes/EmbroidMe; Dennis Ervin, Squire Men's Clothier, Mary Ann Hall, Kristin Kowaleski, Kristian Moberg, Pam Panich and Sue Stankus. Without their sacrifice of time and efforts, we would not have been able to pull this event together.
Many thanks to our Title Sponsors: Baker Square Restaurants, Classic Lanes, EmbroidMe and the Partners of Greenfield Park and Recreation, for without them, we would not have a parade and celebration. I cannot forget to mention the support of Greenfield businesses whose sponsorships allowed us to feature many new events in this year's parade and celebration. Thank you to our Blue Ribbon Sponsors: Milwaukee Emergency Center for Animals, Greenfield Chamber of Commerce and Sendik's Food Markets. Thank you to our Red Ribbon Sponsors: Bluemels Garden and Landscape Center, BP Gas & Food Mart/LoomisGas & Food Mart, Dave's Garage, the Moberg Family and Schlossmann's Honda City. Thank you to our White Ribbon Sponsors: Advance Camping & Sales, Dennis Ervin, Greenfield Pontiac - Buick, Kessler Diamonds, Magner, Hueneke, Smith & Borda, LLP, Max A Sass & Sons, Stan's Fit for Your Feet and Stu's Flooring. Thank you to our Green Ribbon Sponsors: Aldi, Inc., Don Carlson, County Board Supervisor, Mark Borkowski, Community Bank & Trust, Denai'sDancers, Grand Appliance & TV, Layton Avenue Baptist Church and Skibs Entertainment. And finally, thank you for your donation of much needed goods and services: George Webbs, Jimmy Johns, The Forum Restaurants, Office Depot and Special Editions.
Be sure to plan for a hot day of fun and excitement. Our "Bestest" Parade steps-off at 12:15 pm. We are so excited to have former Wisconsin Badgers and Green Bay Packers great Mark Tauscher as our honorary parade grand marshal, assisting with flag-raising ceremonies and enjoying the 5th Quarter performance by the University of Wisconsin Marching Band. Mark will be joined by over 80 parade entries, ending with Bucky Badger and the University of Wisconsin Marching Band.
The afternoon promises to entertain the youngest through our oldest guests and appeal to even our four - legged best friends. Starting with a challenge for those who think they are Smarter than a 5th Grader, Dancers with Woofs, a breathtaking demonstration by Division BMX Stunt Team, dance and martial arts demo/lesson by Salsabrosa Dance Company and Martial Arts America and for dessert, a Pie Eating Contest! Entertaining us until the big bang, our headline band, Cold Sweat and the Brew City Horns!
There will be many to satisfy your taste and thirst buds. Stop by to enjoy a snack, lunch/dinner or a cold one at: Classic Lanes Entertainment Tent, Rocky Rococo Pizza & Pasta, Wisconsin Fried Cheese Curds, Greenfield Jaycees, Yum Yum Homemade Ice Cream, Los Mariachis Restaurant, Olde Country Style Almonds or Jose's!
And, oh, yes, the "Bestest" Fireworks display! At dusk.
Happy Birthday America! See you on the 4th of July!

I fixed it, but hey, with temps in the high 90s, who wouldn't want a cold seat?
