Caring in the Community

Is it just me, or does it seem like January has flown by? I feel as though New Year's Eve was six months ago instead of only a few weeks! Speaking of New Year's Eve, how are your resolutions coming? I can tell you that I'm already stumbling. I resolved to write more (do emails count?), submit to this blog more often (ooof, sorry!) and to vigorously work out some specific muscle groups; namely my Gratitude, Patience and Charitable muscles. I know, not your typical targets when you think of working out, but, then again, I'm not your typical girl!

Most of my workout has been going okay - but I do want to share a little about how I'm pumping up my Charitable muscles. In Decemeber, I selected a group of charities that I prefer donating to. As with all charitable donations, the giver's reasons vary depending on circumstance, habit and awareness. Now, I may be biased about these great causes, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't grab a cup of coffee (or your beverage of choice) and check them out. Who knows - they may grab your attention and you may just find that your Charitable Muscles are feeling the need for a little workout. And take it from one who knows: no matter the size of your gift, from $1 to $1,000, every dollar makes a huge difference.

  1. Adoption Resources of Wisconsin. (Okay, I admit it. I'm especially biased in this regard, having worked for this organization for the past 12 years. However, take an insider's tips: your dollars work hard here. Besides, you're just in time to take the Project 20/12 Pledge - see if you can beat your friends to earning your very own Turn a Life Around t-shirt!)
  2. The Elephant Sanctuary
  3. Lucky Dog Rescue Blog
  4. The Elephant Listening Project
  5. Villalobos Rescue Center
  6. Best Friends Animal Sanctuary
