Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transsexual, or LGBT, Pride Month is celebrated in the month of October throughout the U.S. to recognize the heroes of the LGBT community.
It recognizes 31 people as heroes in the LGBT community. For example, on Oct. 26, they recognized RuPaul as the hero of the day, stating his biography and what he has accomplished in his life.
October wasn’t pulled out of a hat to be LGBT month; a Missouri High School teacher named Rodney Wilson started it. Also, Oct. 11 and Oct. 20 are Coming Out Day and Gay Spirit Day are included, celebrated by all Gay-Straight Alliances around the country due to one man’s thinking.
Not a lot of people know about LGBT month.
“What is that?” Brianna Livingston, a senior at Whitnall High School, said. “I don’t even know there was an LGBT month.”
The Whitnall and Greenfield School Districts don’t celebrate it because it’s not a common idea just yet.
“I think they have LGBT Pride Month so people in the LGBT community could express themselves more and teach people how to be more tolerant.” said Chateng, a senior at Whitnall High School.
Sadly, for Whitnall, the Gay-Straight Alliance was disbanded because it had only five members and was not being noticed as a service club. But thanks to some willpower from some students, they will hopefully bring it back to the school’s attention in the 2013-2014 school year.
So, if you are interested in celebrating it next year, go to your local GSA or LGBT center in Milwaukee County.

Wouldn't it have been better to publish this on October 1 instead of November 1?

Love your country?
Make a special note to watch the Free and Equal Election Debate between third party Presidential candidates, Gov. Gary Johnson (Libertarian) and Dr. Jill Stein (Green) to be aired tonight, Monday evening, Nov. 5th from 9:00 - 10:30 pm Eastern Time. Perform a worthwhile civic duty, and be certain to listen in on this historic debate so that you can make an informed decision on voting day. Third party candidates who will be on the ballot in most states deserve to be heard.

Let the LGBT community across the country note what else is at stake this election. It is civil liberties. If you want real justice for the LGBT community, vote for Gary Johnson, Libertarian, and tell all your friends in the LGBT community to vote for him also. Both Obama and Romney are unfit for the office of the Presidency.
