A week ago today - I was minding my own business typing away on my laptop when I received a call from pick-N-save on 76th & coldspring, in Greenfield, Wi.
A young lady quickly informed me that she had my iPad. Barely surprised, cause I leave everything everywhere, I told her I'd be over there in a few minutes.
5 minutes later I was BACK over at our local grocery store.
Apparently after unloading my wife’s grocery cart ... I had left my iPad in the cart out in the parking lot.
I don't know what honest Todd (that's what I call him when I tell this story)... "Honest Todd the Meat Manager" was doing out in the parking lot??? But he somehow saw my iPad and grabbed it and turned it over to the people at the service counter.
The young lady at the service desk apologized repeatedly for going through my iPad - which she of course had to have in order to have discovered that it was mine and to know who to call.
So, here we go...
Sometime ago my dad came back from a trip to Japan talking about seeing the equivalent to a $10 bill in Japanese currency thumbtacked to a telephone pole - when Dad asked the local minister about it - he was told that it was common that when someone found something that didn't belong to them that they'd just try to make it more visible to the people that would eventually come looking for it. They were so programed to honesty that it seemed to not even occur to them to take it for them selves.
Uhhmmm... an iPad can go for a whole lot more than that - Honest Todd the Meat Manager from pick-n-save has them beat up and down and all around.
I went back to the meat department to meet the meat manager and he just shrugged it off like it was no big deal.
I'm just saying ... GREENFIELD is an AWESOME place to LIVE and to SHOP ...
I'm actually kinda thrilled to have been so irresponsible as to have left my iPad the other day...
I otherwise would not have met honest Todd with such great admiration.
Nor would I have yet another reason to brag on how great the people are in and around this great community.
I for one love Greenfield, there are WONDERFUL people here.
I go with my wife most every week when she does our grocery shopping - I've gotten to know a lot of the employees at the store - there are tremendous people that work there - I have to tell you - my impression on the people that work there was already great - but it has increased exponentially.

It is quite refreshing to know there are still some honest people to discover. You are truly fortunate and blessed to get your valuable IPad returned to you.

Despite all of the terrible news about terrible people out there, I run into many more examples day in and day out just like this one. It's nice to see this positive story make the news, and it couldn't happen to a better person.

Bravo Todd and many other fellow Greenfieldians who are just as praiseworthy. And here's a thought...why not post some random acts of kindness on a regular basis here on the Patch?

thanks Karen, I'm all for MORE postings on the good things that are happening in Greenfield.
as long as your not asking me to go around leaving my iPad laying around to discover more honest people. HA!
there has to be a better way...
thanks again.
