Read-a-Thon: Update 1

We are seven hours into the read-a-thon and my company has left me for the evening. I'm taking a little break to tend to some household chores, update Goodreads and, of course, this blog!

I started with "A Reliable Wife" by Robert Goolrick because it's the September pick for the book club that I am in. I finished about a half hour ago, so that makes one book (291 pages) read thus far. The book was okay. Not what I was expecting it to be, but, after a rough and slow first two chapters, I did get more interested. And I kept reading. There were a few plot elements that I saw coming a mile away and some that took me completely by surprise. If Goodreads would let me, I'd have given it two-and-a-half stars. But, since I can't, I went with two starts. Just okay.

Up next: "Sam's Letters to Jennifer" by James Patterson. My mom recently read this one and said it was a must read for me. I'm hoping to read for at least another two hours or so before turning in for some sleep. Tomorrow the plan is to reconvene with a friend around 8 a.m. for breakfast, followed by continued reading.

I'm kind of surprised that I'm not feeling more tired . . . but I have had three cups of coffee, lots of tea and plenty of good food to fuel me.
