Hales Corners Couple Hosts Fundraiser to Benefit Homeless
Young Women In Southeast Wisconsin
1st Annual Voice for the Voiceless Raises over $7000

Hales Corners, WI - Thursday, July 19, 2013 - Voice for the Voiceless, a wine tasting event in Hales Corners, was so successful its organizers have decided to make it an annual event. The event, attended by more than 100 people, raised over $7000 and will benefit young women in southeast Wisconsin at Lissy's Place, a transitional living program of the nonprofit organization, My Home, Your Home Inc.

The fundraiser was the brainchild of My Home, Your Home Inc. Board member Craig Knapp and his wife Jana. "We wanted to do something special to raise money for Lissy's Place and help these young women who really have no place to go," said Knapp "We have seen firsthand the successes of this important program and we wanted to make sure that money raised went to continue those efforts right here in our community."

Lissy’s Place serves young women between the ages of 17.5 through 29 who have transient and unsupportive backgrounds. Many of the young women at Lissy's Place have aged out of the foster care system at 18 without adequate life skills or a support network. The residents of Lissy’s Place have no income or their household income is below the county medium of 30%. The goal of Lissy’s Place is to help the women increase their skills and resources to better prepare them for becoming self-sufficient to move forward into sustainable permanent housing.

"Lissy’s Place provides stable housing, intensive case management, independent learning experiences, connections to community resources and a supportive environment," said My Home, Your Home Inc. CEO Connie Palmer. "Without the support and generosity of our donors, like Mr. and Mrs. Knapp, we would never have been able to help the more than 400 young women who have stayed at Lissy's Place since we opened the doors in 2001."

The Board of Directors and Staff at My Home, Your Home Inc. would like to extend a HUGE thank you to everyone who supported this event and a special thank you goes out to all the volunteers who offered their talents to make this event such a success.

Special thanks also goes to 39 local companies and individuals who donated over 40 silent auction items: Bartolotta Resturants, Bosch Tavern, Catch 22 Restaurant, Cooper’s Hawk Restaurant, Culvers of Hales Corners, Full Service Car Wash, Hair Fiddlers, Horny Goat Brewing Company, Hotel Metro Milwaukee, House of Harley, Joel & Patty Ceille, Joel Stave, Kathy Miskov – Pampered Chef, LaFuente Restaurant, Mad Dog Saloon, Maggiano’s Little Italy, Mason Street Grill, Matty’s Bar & Grill, Maureen Reimer – Mary Kay, Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Club, Milwaukee Food Tours, Morningstar Golfers Club, Oro di Oliva, Otto’s Wine & Spirits, Paul & Yvette Cunningham, Peeple’s Treasures and Gifts, Radisson Hotel & Conference Center, Ricardo & Rebecca Tijerino, Rounding Third, Ruby Tuesday, Scott & MaryBeth Paprocki, Scott Bennett, Scott E’s Pub, Skydive Milwaukee/Sky Knights SPC, Sprecher Brewing Company, Sudz Wash and Lube, Suze Wilke, That’s Amore, and The Pfister Hotel Well Spa.
