Whitnall High School Conference Bowling Meet

Whitnall High School competed in the conference bowling tournament and earned a state tournament bid.

Saturday, Feb. 9, the Whitnall High School bowling team participated in the conference meet at American Machine and Foundry Waukesha to get an opportunity to go to state.

Since all district division winners are already guaranteed a spot at the state tournament, the conference meet gave four teams the ability to join the state tournament.

"Conference is importance due to it being another path to get to state," Whitnall assistant coach Jeremy Gorgas said. "It is hard to get to state due to the caliber of teams that are in our conference."

At the conference meet, every bowling team bowls 15 games and the top four combined scores from non-district-winning teams advance to state.

"Conference shows how great of a team we are," Whitnall varsity bowler Justin Rinka said.

In the five years that Whitnall High School bowling has existed, the team has qualified for state four times, including this year.

After all 15 games were over, the final scores were tallied, and Whitnall, Franklin, Germantown, Greenfield, Mukwonago, West Allis Central and Wast Allis Hale are all going to state this year.
