Great Escape: Zumba

It's dancing with a twist.

The Greenfield Parks and Recreation Department begins its second spring session of Saturday Zumba classes the week of March 26.

This aerobic-style of dancing is Latin-inspired and pulls from traditional salsa, rumba and cha-cha techniques. The park and rec encourages everyone over the age of 16 to participate and Patch thinks this series of seven Saturday mornings is the perfect way to escape the house, get your workout in and have a ton of fun as you learn new dance moves.

The fitness class aims to maximize the calorie burn with total body motions that simultaneously tone and engage all muscle groups. The peppy music and dynamic instructor make the class anything but grueling. You’ll find yourself laughing and loving the free spirited nature of this workout.

Bring a girlfriend and make a whole morning of it with the class followed by coffee and breakfast. Or go by yourself and come home with new dance moves in your disco quiver for the next time you’re out with your special someone!
