Snow Expected to Make a Return

Winter storm warning in place for area from 6 a.m. Sunday through 6 p.m. Monday.

Southeastern Wisconsin has not seen a significant snowfall since the blizzard struck earlier this month, and with temperatures in the 40s this week, it appeared winter was on its way out.

Not so fast.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for Milwaukee and its surrounding areas from 6 a.m Sunday through 6 p.m. Monday.

Snow is expected to begin falling sometime late Saturday evening. In some parts of the state, that snow could change to freezing rain with ice accumulations of a quarter of an inch.

A transition back to snow is expected sometime Sunday morning and lasting through Monday morning with 3-6 inches of total accumulation expected.

According to the National Weather Service, there remains uncertainty with the track of the low pressure system responsible for the storm and any small change in the track would have relatively large impacts on precipitation type and snowfall amounts.
