Gamers Excited for Next Generation of PlayStation, Xbox

As the next generation of video game consoles are coming out, see what they have to offer and what people want.

The next generation of video game consoles are coming out this year, and many of Whitnall’s students are looking forward to playing them.

PlayStation 4 is coming out for the holidays of 2013, and the next Xbox is to be announced by Microsoft on May 21.

The PlayStation 4 is considered groundbreaking already even though it isn’t even in stores yet. Every time a new generation of systems comes out the graphics get enhanced, and this time they got improved majorly, easily seen in the new Battlefield 4 trailer. It's been said before, but this time it's more true than ever: it really feels like you’re in the game.

“I cannot wait for the next generation of systems,” senior Peter Schiebe said. “I really hope Xbox’s graphics are as good as they looked for PlayStation 4.”

While the new PlayStation has outstanding graphics, nothing has yet been learned about Microsoft’s next Xbox. Speculation is that the Xbox’s graphics will be improved from last generation, but will be not as great as the PlayStation's. That doesn’t concern gamers, however.

“The graphics can be comparable to that of a higher end PC,” former Whitnall student Darian Betters said. “But in the end, graphics aren't everything. I can go back to the days of Super Nintendo and recall some of the most fun I've ever had playing games.”

Good games are important as well. The expected titles that will make the most impact for PlayStation include Watch Dogs, Infamous: Second Son, and Killzone: Shadow Fall. Xbox also expects to have Watch Dogs, a brand new Forza game, and quite possibly Halo 5.

While it seems like the next generation of systems are here, we still have a ways to go before they get released. Until then the updates will keep being announced. Be on the lookout for them, gamers!
