Greenfield Fire Chief Jon Cohn told police the evacuation was due to the size of the leak.

Greenfield fire crews, along with assistance of Greenfield Police and WE Gas, mitigated the hazards and relocated evacuees. After about 45 minutes to an hour, the leak was stopped. Nearby structures were evaluated and eventually residents were allowed to reoccupy.
