Weekend of Holiday Events Kicks Off Season

There are plenty of events for all ages to celebrate the holidays and head into the new year.

The City of Greenfield will be spreading holiday cheer with events for all ages starting this weekend.

Let your child tell Santa if he or she was naughty or nice with Brunch with Santa, hosted by the Greenfield Parks and Recreation Department.

The family event is for youth ages 2-10 accompanied by a parent or guardian and runs from 10-11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at the .

The morning's activities include a holiday story, music and a visit from the big guy himself. Brunch includes pancakes with whipped cream and strawberries, sausage, applesauce, cookies and juice.

The event is limited to the first 100 participants and costs $5 for children ages 2-10 and $7 for anyone 11 and older.*

Annual tree-lighting ceremony

If you have brunch with Santa on Dec. 10, be sure to stay for the city's holiday tree-lighting ceremony from noon to 1 p.m. in the rotunda.

The tree lighting will take place at noon, and enjoy cookies, hot chocolate and festive music and get a picture with Mr. and Mrs. Claus.

Christmas for grownups

Are you 55 or older and think the holidays rock?

Elvis impersonator Alan Graveen will perform at the 16th Annual Holiday Party at from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15.

The $14-per-person event (limit 200) includes an all-you-can-eat menu of soup, bread, broasted chicken, roast beef served with mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetables, dressing, cranberry sauce, dessert and a beverage and Graveen's performance.

Tickets are available through the Parks and Recreation Department.*

Not too early to plan for New Years Eve

The City of Greenfield will also host a pair of New Year's Eve events, beginning with the Eddie Cash New Years Eve at Noon Show at the Community Center.

The event runs from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and includes a three-course buffet luncheon and the Eddie Cash performance.

Register by Dec. 20. Tickets are $35 and are available by calling the Parks and Recreation Department.*

Later that evening, the Community Center will also host New Years Eve Family Fun Around the World from 6-8:30 p.m.

The clocks will be set to ring in the new year with other time zones at this alcohol-free, family-friendly environment that will feature a DJ, dancing, comedy and crafts.

The $7 per-person fee includes pizza, snack and a beverage. Kids under 3 are free and all youth under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
