Greenfield Woman A Finalist to Become 'Rock Girl'

Lindsey Frank, a 2007 Greenfield High School graduate, is one of nine finalists.

Greenfield’s Lindsey Frank admits she’s a bit out of her element, but she’s hoping that’s what makes her stand out.

The 22-year-old Frank is one of nine finalists in 102.9 The Hog's contest to select its newest Rock Girl, a spokesperson/model who helps the radio station promote events.

The Rock Girl is required to make appearances at Summerfest, State Fair and other events around the listening area – a maximum of 25 hours per week – and while being in front of large crowds is not really Frank’s style, she’s enjoyed how the competition has made her step away from her norm.

“I’m very nervous and excited, all in one,” she said. “I’m usually terrified to go in front of big groups and talk, so this would be really interesting for me. Crowds of people intimidate me, but hopefully this would get me out of my shell. It has so far.”

Frank survived one of the radio station’s three casting calls earlier this spring, and then made it to the final round thanks to online voting on The Hog’s website and voting on Time Warner Cable’s Wisconsin On Demand channel 411.

The contest finale is at Hal’s Harley-Davidson, 1925 S. Moorland Rd. New Berlin, from 5-7 p.m. Saturday.

Fans can still vote for Frank online, on channel 411 or by texting “Lindsey” to 77000 through the start of Saturday’s finale.

At the finale, contestants will be judged on an interview/introduction, a swimsuit competition, an evening/club wear competition and a talent competition. A panel of judges will make up 80 percent of the final vote. Fan voting makes up 10 percent and the other 10 percent comes from pre-judging of previous appearances.

Frank is competing for $10,000 one-year salary, including a ton of other prizes including a 50-inch LCD HDTV, a 102-day lease of a Harley–Davidson motorcycle, a $3,000 Ideal Image laser hair removal treatment package and much more.

Frank, a 2007 graduate, said the salary was a big reason she decided to give it the contest a shot. She is a nursing school student at and said the money would go straight toward tuition.

“It would really, really help me pay for college,” she said. “It’s an awesome job. It would work great with my work (she works part-time at the Boerner Botanical Gardens) and school schedule.

“I love meeting people and talking with people and hopefully it would open some more doors for me.”
