Alterra Has a New Name, New Future

Probably the biggest local business story of the week — for coffee drinkers, at least — was Alterra Coffee Roasters changing the business' name to Colectivo Coffee. Perhaps more significant than changing the name after 20 years is that Alterra is ending its three-year relationship with Mars Inc. The national company will retain the name Alterra and still sell coffee under that name, while Colectivo will be owned and managed locally. Company co-founder Lincoln Fowler talks to Patch about the name change in this video.

Northern Gear Breaks Ground on Muskego Facility

Construction is now under way on a 96,000-square-foot facility for Northern Gear, which is moving its operations and about 95 jobs from Franklin to Muskego. The city gave the company $825,000 in incentives to make the move to an industrial center along Moorland Road. The facility should be ready in late 2014. Read more on Muskego Patch.

Which Fitness Clubs are the Best?

Fitness clubs have been popping up all over the Milwaukee area in the last few years, but the top clubs, according to The Business Journal, has been around for generations: The Y. The YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee is in the top spot of the Business Journal's best fitness clubs in the region, while the YMCA of Central Waukesha County was ranked No. 3 and the Racine Family YMCA came in fifth. Rounding out the top five were the Wisconsin Athletic Club (No. 2) and Elite Sports Clubs (No. 4).

Camping World Supercenter Coming to Ozaukee County

Illinois-based Camping World plans to open a “supercenter” in Saukville in February. Camping World sells and services RVs, and sells camping supplies. See more on Port Washington-Saukville Patch.

Muskego Shopping Center Could Open Next Month

Construction of a new strip mall at Janesville and Moorland roads in Muskego is expected to finish by Labor Day, with the first business possibly opening the same month. Starbucks is the only business officially confirmed for the new building, which has space for three or four tenants.
