Lambeau Sleep: Packers Cheesehead Bed for Football Fanatics

Verlo Mattress Factory has unveiled a novelty like no other that Green Bay football fans might just gobble up.

Green Bay Packers fans who had a hard time sleeping Sunday night following a less-than-impressive win over the Jacksonville Jaguars can now catch Zs like Donald Driver catches TDs no matter what the outcome.

On Monday, Verlo Mattress Factory unveiled the Cheesehead Bed.

The bed, introduced in time for the stretch run of the 2012 football season, is made of a gel foam or memory foam mattress encased in a gold-colored cover that resembles an enormous block of cheese.

While the Cheesehead Bed is definitely an acquired taste, Verlo anticipates diehard Packers fans giving the new specialty mattress a try – and if nothing else, they can get a super night’s sleep.

“As the official mattress of the Green Bay Packers, we felt it would be fun to show our team spirit and create a bed that is bound to bring a smile to fans – as well as a good night’s sleep,” said Scott Baitinger, chief marketing officer at Verlo in a statement.

In addition to its unusual appearance, the Cheesehead Bed has a unique pricing
structure. When the Packers win, the mattress will be sold at a celebratory price for 24 hours following the win – giving fans two things to savor. For example, a twin-sized Cheesehead Bed that normally retails for $799 will be reduced to $599.

As part of the launch, Verlo is also introducing the “Who has the Cheesiest Bedroom?” Facebook contest. Scheduled to run November 1 through November 30, the lucky fan who submits a photo of the cheesiest bedroom will receive a free Cheesehead Bed delivered by former Green Bay Packers safety LeRoy Butler, the founder of the world famous Lambeau Leap.

“I love the entire idea behind the Cheesehead Bed,” Butler said in a statement. “Wisconsinites love their football and their cheese, so combining them both with a good night’s sleep from Verlo is a win for everyone.”

While a novelty product, the Cheesehead Bed is actually a high-quality sleep
product featuring the same comfort and support as Verlo’s other customized
mattresses. Its innovative gel foam and memory foam provide pressure-relieving support that conforms to each person’s body and eliminates partner disturbance. It also offers increased airflow for optimal sleep temperatures.

Butler, who was at the Greenfield Verlo location Monday, will be back at the store on Nov. 10 for a special event where fans can meet and greet the Packers legend, get autographs and see the bed. Details have not been finalized.

The Official Cheesehead Bed, available in twin, full, queen and king sizes, is sold at Verlo Mattress Factory stores throughout the state. For more information, visit www.cheeseheadbed.com.
