Solid Gold McDonalds, Solid Gold Memories

A legend has left Greenfield with the demolition of the longtime hotspot.

It was six years ago.

My birthday is Jan. 26, and it was the weekend after my 26th birthday. Believe it or not, my good friend Jesse Lee, whose birthday is Jan. 27th, celebrated his 27th birthday that week.

For months, we joked that we had to go to Solid Gold McDonald's for our golden birthdays and as the birthdays got closer, we were determined to make it happen.

So Jesse and I, his wife, my then-future wife, and Jesse's parents, who were visiting from out of town, headed to 76th Street for the golden celebration.

Once we walked in, we were guided to the piano-playing Mac Tonight, where much to our surprise, our closest friends and my entire family - parents, siblings, and brothers-in-law - awaited.
