What the Heck is This a Picture Of?

Fans of Greenfield's most famous burger and frozen custard joint will have a new place to enjoy their favorite foods.

In an effort to enhance what is already widely considered one of the most popular burger and frozen custard restaurants in Greenfield, has developed plans for a new Kopp's Meditation Garden.

The garden will be located on the southwest corner of the busy 76th Street and Layton Avenue intersection.

The plan, which was approved by the Common Council on Tuesday, calls for large, steel pipes (the white structures in the attached picture of the model) to be partially embedded in the ground to create walls on the north and east sides of the garden. There will be separators, perhaps glass block, between the sections of pipe.

"It's really new-aged art," said Chuck Erickson, Greenfield's Community Development Director.

The steel pipe will connect with the existing concrete wall on the west and south sides of the garden, fully enclosing the garden. The only entrance will be on the southwest corner.

The existing grass and concrete slab in the middle of the square will remain, according to Erickson.

No start date for the project has been set. The architect is Brian Krob of ALINE Architecture Concepts in Scottsdale, Ariz.

The lot was once home to a gas station before Kopp's purchased the land and razed the building.
