Where You Can Pick Your Own Produce

The closest places to Greenfield where ordinary folks can act like farmers for a few hours.

Want to get out and pick your own berries or apples? Looking forward to picking pumpkins, squash or pears? Here's a guide to some of the closest pick-your-own produce farms in the area.

Awe's Apple Orchard, 8081 S Lover's Lane (Hwy 100), Franklin (8 miles from Greenfield)
Hours: September, October and weekends in November. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Highlights: Pick your own apples typically runs the first week of September through the first week of October. Picking is contingent upon availability. Pumpkins are available for picking around Oct. 1.

Hours: Will probably open week of Aug. 15, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Saturdays, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Season lasts about 6 weeks.
