Fish Food Cheese

Sheep milk cheese as fish food? Amazing what comes in when we listen.

Yesterday I drove Jeanette home while she waited for what was apparently going to be an all-day car repair. I asked her what she planned to do without a car all day.

“I’m doing some writing.” she said.
“Oh?” I asked.
“Query letters to book publishers.”
“Really?”

Well, now I’m hooked. I told her I am a budding writer of sorts but had yet to get as far along the line as she is. She explained a little about the book proposal process and I asked a few questions. I told her I’m working on a happiness project. I also mentioned that I tell stories about people I meet in the shuttle. We had a lovely chat.

“Wait right here,” she said when we pulled up up to her house.

Much to my delight I am now the proud owner of a personally signed copy of The Cheeses of Wisconsin:  A Culinary Travel Guide, by Jeanette Hurt.

A further bonus to me was that her car was ready in an hour. I got to pick her up and we continued our conversation. She gave me wonderful advice regarding markets, publishers, conferences, editors, and agents. As a result of that I am extra motivated to sit myself in the chair and get my fingers wiggling. She is a wonderful mentor.

It wasn’t till I got home and googled her up that I realized what an accomplished author she is. I count myself lucky to have met her at all.

Fish Food Cheese? Ah, yes.

Jeanette tells a story about a woman in NW Wisconsin that makes raw, unpastuerized sheeps milk cheese. It’s cleaner than milk from cows in the regular dairy process. I guess you’ll have to judge for yourself whether it’s good enough to feed to the fish or not. There's much more to the story. LoveTreeFarmstead.com

When I talk about my Do Happy Better project this is the engagement to which I refer. Had I not been willing to engage, or she had not been willing to engage - and follow our passion - I would not be telling this story. We would have missed all this.

This is it. Step up. Find your passion. Do your own work. Or play, as the case may be.
