We Need Each Other
ShuttleDave says we need each other, and spending ten minutes figuring it out is not that difficult to do.
Almost invariably my guest riders will ask if I am retired. I wish. We generally turn that into a giggle.
I am constantly amazed about what people do and glad to see places in the greater metro area. I am always on the hunt for landscaping ideas. I generally have few of my own.
And, if my riders are not pleased that I asked about the most important thing they do every day, they are happy to tell me about sailing, Burning Man, alpine hiking, or selling stamps on eBay.

I recently met a now-local chemist from Brazil, a cellist with the MSO, a retired cop from Cudahy and people from India, Oak Creek and across the street.
We might talk about sex, death and the weather but we do not talk about auto servicing issues. There's so very little I can do from behind the wheel. Obviously I share critical stories back at the bay. But, for the greater part of the journey there is no griping about the automobile. We do what we must do.

And, oddlly, we don't touch much on sports or politics, either. Politics seems designed to be divisive and my sports talk is better spent listening.
So, we concentrate on each other.
People are people. We need each other.
