Local World Tour

I met a gal in the service drive with the word chakra as part of her license plate. “Good morning, Ms. Chakra.” I said, and away it went. She teaches yoga and NIA at a senior center, teaches writing at UWM and has recently taken the executive directorship post at RedLine ( redlineartmke.org ), a collaborative community art laboratory. Her daughter teaches Latin and over my lunch hour I gathered some of the Latin bookmarks I produce as a gift to her and her daughter. She was quite surprised. Sally and I are going to meet at Redline for a tour later this month. Apparently we know people together. I don’t know what it all means but she is wonderful and we do need more people doing art. That same day I also met a C-level exec at Stella and Chewy’s. stellaandchewys.com Apparently they make some of the highest quality dog and cat food on the market right here in St. Francis. USDA meats hit their docks and gets blended with mostly organic veggies. I don’t think they can say USDA because they are not certified by that agency, but they do not spare the love that goes onto the plate of your pet. Yesterday, I noticed the storm clouds in the south and thought of my long friend Jay headed in old country - Black Hills. I mentioned this to Sindy and - surprise - that’s where she’s from - Pierre, SD to be precise. We shared our South Dakota stories together. She’s also hosted 6 years of grief counseling groups and knows more than anyone should about death, dying and those left behind. I also took a guy to Miller Park. He works for the Brewers and didn’t seem overly chatty. He might have thought I’d hit him up for freebies. Maybe. He works in ticket sales. I’m sure he gets that alot. It is harder work selling tickets when they are having an off-season. I’ve been thinking that these uplifting interactions have value. My dealer employer does not see his name or brand here in the story. It’s not here on purpose. We need to have a conversation about value first. He cannot imagine what good will might come his way if we fleshed out these stories a bit to include his name. He cannot imagine. And he is apparently too busy to be curious. Maybe I just don’t get the bigger picture. Even so, I love my gig. I meet the most amazing people. There are more stories with Shuttle Dave at shuttledave.blogspot.com
