ACT: The Big Ticket Into College!

Hello! My name is Dominique Thomas and I'm a junior at Whitnall High School. I'm taking Broadcast Journalism and blogging about important events happening at Whitnall.

At Whitnall High School on April 14, 2012, some Whitnall juniors will be taking the ACT.

The ACT is a very important test that will determine their ticket into college. Throughout high school, there are many important events that come to juniors, one of them would be taking the ACT. The National Honor Society has ACT prep classes for juniors, who want to get prepared for the ACT.

Since this is a very important test to take, many juniors are nervous and wonder what to expect. I asked many students at Whitnall and see what they thought and Lindsey Crowe, a junior, said curiously, “I wonder if what I’ve been practicing is actually going to be the same on the ACT?" Also, another junior named Alyssa, already took it once and she said, “Everything I expected was on there, but it seemed forever when I took it!”

Juniors can take this on April and decide if they want to take it again if they’re not happy with their score. But some have already been taking it since sophomore year. If they did practice more, it helps them out and gives them a better understanding of the test. A lot of juniors are stressed but are ready to take it. Some teachers even help out students; one teacher that I talked to, Mrs. Knar, is a math teacher at Whitnall High School, and she teaches all different types of math. In addition, she tutors other kids from high schools for the ACT, which is really helpful to students. It also gives them great tips on what to expect.

As you can see there is a lot of ways juniors can get ready for the ACT. This is a very important test that will help us get into college, if we take it seriously and work hard.
