Free Prostate Cancer Screenings Thursday at Miller Park

First 500 men will receive free Brewers tickets.

Worried about prostate cancer?Come to the fifth annual event promoting early detection of this cancer at Miller Park on Thursday. Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin, Fox 6, the Milwaukee Brewers and ZERO: The Project to End Prostate Cancer are joining together to encourage men to protect themselves against the disease.Statistics show one in six men will develop prostate cancer, according to a Froedtert press release, but with early detection it is highly curable. More than 500 men were screened at last year's event. More than 12 percent had abnormal blood test results and about 5 percent had abnormal physical prostate exam results.
If you've never been checked, this is a perfect opportunity:

  • The screening is free.
  • No appointment needed; exams will be performed on a first- come, first-serve basis. Exams take about 20 minutes.
  • The first 500 men who have the screening done will receive a voucher good for two tickets to a future Milwaukee Brewers home game!

Should you be checked? Here are the people Froedtert says should consider a screening:
  • Men over 50 years of age who haven’t had a prostate screening in the past 12 months.
  • African-American men over the age of 40 who haven’t had a prostate screening in the past 12 months.
  • Men who are over 40 and have a close relative (father, brother) who has had prostate cancer.
Ready to go? Here's all the info you need:
  • Where: Miller Park, 1 Brewers Way, Milwaukee
  • When: 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday
