Looking for a Way to Remember the Sept. 11 Attacks?

Municipalities, veterans groups, religious organizations and others are sponsoring remembrance ceremonies this weekend. Take a look at what's happening in Waukesha, Milwaukee and Racine counties.

With the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on Sunday, many communities and organizations are finding ways to remember the attacks.

Events to honor victims, rescue personnel and law enforcement are taking place throughout the area this weekend. If you're looking to participate, find one near you, and join in. Read more about .

MILWAUKEE COUNTY

  • 9/11 Service of Prayer and Remembrance, 2 p.m. at South Milwaukee United Methodist Church, 1327 Marshall Ave., South Milwaukee.
  • 9/11 Memorial Dedication, 8:45 a.m. at the Oak Creek Fire Department Headquarters, 7000 S. 6th St., Oak Creek.
  • , 8:15 a.m. at Wauwatosa Avenue United Methodist Church, 1529 Wauwatosa Ave., Wauwatosa.
  • , 4 p.m. at Wauwatosa Women's Club, 1626 N. Wauwatosa Ave., Wauwatosa.
  • United We Stand Concert and memorial service, 2 p.m. at Cathedral Square Park, intersection of Kilbourn Ave. and N. Jefferson St., Milwaukee. Bel Canto Chorus and Milwaukee Chamber Orchestra will join for a free concert at Cathedral Square Park to commemorate the attacks, and religious leaders from the Interfaith Conference of Greater Milwaukee will offer an invocation, read reflections and recite a Prayer for the Future.

RACINE COUNTY

  • 9/11 Memorial Service, 10:30 a.m., Fellowship Baptist Church, 5607 Wright Ave., Racine. 
  • 9/11 Memorial Event, 2 p.m., Monument Square, 500 block Main Street, Racine.
  • Day and Service of Remembrance, 2 p.m., Mount Pleasant Village Hall, 8811 Campus Drive, Mount Pleasant.
  • , 6 p.m., Sebastian's, 6025 Douglas Ave., Caledonia. The four-course dinner and auction of a custom commemorative chef's knife will raise money for a burn camp. All-inclusive dinner price is $91.10. Call (262) 681-5465 for more information.

  • City of Brookfield: The city will sound the emergency warning sirens at noon for 1 minute as a moment of remembrance of the day.
