Milwaukee Animal Rescue Center Pet of the Week: Matthew

Get ready to fall in love.

Matthew is a three-month-old boy with a heart of gold and a fearless disposition. He's brave, he's social, he thinks he runs the place. He's also got just one eye!

Upon intake, Matthew clearly suffered from an eye condition. He was immediately seen by our veterinarian and diagnosed with a congenital eye disease that could be remedied only by removal of the affected eye. His surgery was flawless, his recovery speedy.

You know who doesn't seem to notice? Matthew. Within days he was bounding around his foster home, his cone a welcome addition to the party, chasing the dogs and cats and making friends all over town. Matthew's new favorite friend is the pitbull puppy named Clementine who is also being fostered by his generous foster family. The two of them play like old pals.

What's cuter than a baby pitbull wrestling with a one-eyed kitten? Yeah. Nothing.

Matthew is a shining example of the resiliency of our animal friends - a constant reminder that all it takes is a great attitude and a couple of good buddies and we can overcome anything that's thrown our way. Thanks for that, pal.
