Health Fair to Offer Free Screenings For Diabetes, Kidney Disease, More

The Philippine Center and its Free Medical Clinic will host a free health fair for families from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 14, at Zablocki Park in Greenfield.

The event will offer health education and free family screenings for hypertension, diabetes, asthma, kidney disease, breast screening, body mass index and oral care.

The Greenfield Health Department, Columbia/St. Mary’s Outreach, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, The Kidney Trust, and private dental groups will provide health care education for children and adults.

The Greenfield Police Department will provide Finger Print Kits, and the Greenfield Fire Department will offer important fire and safety tips.

“Many serious illnesses can be prevented when we focus on being aware and taking steps to stay healthy,” said Gerry Ramos, Executive Director, Philippine Cultural and Civic Center Foundation. “With the help of our health fair partners, we look forward to being pro-active by sharing these healthy lifestyle tips and information especially to those who may not have access to this critical information.”

A variety of fun activities are planned for children and their families participating in the health fair, including games for kids, Zumba, Tai Chi, martial arts exhibition, clowns, balloon making, pom pom routines, a marching band, karaoke and music.

The first 200 visitors to register for screening will receive a t-shirt, while others will receive a souvenir item. Items are limited and will be available only while supplies last.

The health fair is sponsored by the Philippine Center Free Medical Clinic, City of Greenfield Health Department, Milwaukee County Parks, Henry Schein Cares and Henry Schein’s Healthy Lifestyles, Healthy Communities program.
