Exercise- You CAN Do It!

Tips on how to find time to exercise and stay motivated!

Many of us want to lose weight but can’t seem to find the time or motivation to go out and exercise. Others of us want to workout but aren’t sure where to begin with a new exercise routine.

2. You want to lose weight and keep it off. There’s no way around it-you have to exercise to lose weight!

3. You want to look better. Exercise helps to improve your body, posture, and skin complexion.

4. You are always annoyed and out of energy. One exercise session can put you in a better mood for three to four hours.

5. You take too many sick days. Exercise significantly reduces colds and respiratory infections.

6. You have joint pain. Proper exercise can reduce pain by strengthening muscles around damaged joints.

7. You have a bad back. With the help of a doctor or physical therapist, movement can be a great way to reduce back pain.

8. You want to slow the effects of aging. Exercising reduces bone and muscle loss, decreases inflammation, and improves cognition.

Here are a few tips:

-Walk to co-worker’s desks to speak to them rather than send them an email

-Walk to a nearby store, post office, or dry cleaner's to accomplish errands

-Make several trips up and down the stairs to do laundry or other household chores

-Park in the far reaches of the parking lot

-Visit the restroom on the far side of the building

As always, use safety and listen to your body while exercising. Although walking does not require any equipment, you should always make sure to wear proper shoes and stay hydrated. Also, for those that walk in the dark, it is important to wear some sort of reflective tape or bright clothing so you can be seen by motorists. Finally, make sure to warm-up, stretch, and go at your own pace during your walk.
