Focus on Fire Safety: Fireworks

With the Fourth of July upon us and no sign of rain in the forecast...please excercise caution with your outdoor festivities. Keep in mind the City Wide Burning Ban.

Fireworks and celebrations go together, especially during the Fourth of July.  But Fireworks can be dangerous, causing serious burn and eye injuries.  Fireworks caused 15,000 fires, 8,600 injuries & deaths and $36 million in property damage in 2010 according to the NFPA (National Fire Protection Agency).

What Can You Do To Prevent This:

The Greenfield Fire Department would like to stress...The best way to protect your family is not to use any fireworks at home -- period, especially during these serious drought conditions.  The DNR has rated the Fire Danger as "Very High" one level below extreme.  Furthermore, attend public fireworks displays and leave the lighting to the professionals.
