The Greenfield Jaycees Need Help Feeding Greenfield!

Help combat summer hunger! JCI Greenfield to hold food drive on Saturday, June 25, at Greenfield Pick and Save.

Going hungry doesn't happen in the suburbs.  Those hungry people live somewhere else--closer to the city.

Many of us like to live in our comfortable world where poverty only happens in the inner city. We like to believe our beautiful Greenfield doesn't have those problems. Unfortunately, it's just not true.

Feeding America, a nonprofit food bank, provides food to 5.7 million families a week nationally. According to their statistics, 8.9 million suburban families were moderately to severely food insecure in 2009, and that number has grown as the economy worsened. Summer is especially hard, as children who depend on reduced or free school meals lose that avenue.

JCI Greenfield (along with Feeding America) wants to do something to help this summer. We will be hosting a food drive at the on 76th and Cold Spring on Saturday, June 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Please come out and donate. You never know who your donation may feed!
